Vineyard

Nestled inside the surrounding wall of the abbey, the vineyard is set in a 4,800 yd² enclosure, spread over 5 levels. According to the archives, a vineyard existed as early as 1312. The monks of Villers always consumed wine: for divine service, the refectory, the pharmacy, the guesthouse and the reception of personalities who were served a “wine of honour”. Since 1990, the « Confrérie du Vignoble » has been cultivating vines according to principles borrowed from organic farming and permaculture.
